Autumn Eyes | Happy Halloween!

I won't bother explaining how I did this look because let's be honest I'm not the expert here. Instead I will leave you with a link to the YouTube tutorial that I followed!

For the last few years I've always dress up for Halloween as something dead. Zombie school girl, zombie doctor, corpse bride, you get the gist. I normally just paint my face white and have some sort of fake blood spilling out of my mouth. Attractive, I know. But this year I've had a change of heart and I decided I wanted to go as something a little more imaginative, and a little bit... cuter! So yep, I'm a deer. Antlers and all.

I'm sure you've all got wonderful plans for Halloween and I'd love to see what you're all going as, so please leave me a link if you've done a similar post!

Are You Bored of Tartan Yet?

 TOPSHOP coat

PRIMARK shoes, top, tights

RIVER ISLAND shorts

ZARA bag

I don't know about you guys, but I am feeling a little on the fence about the whole tartan trend this season. I have got a couple of tartan things that I absolutely love for example these little shorts (which manage to incorporate the hounds tooth pattern, which is also huge this A/W) and my amazing giant clutch bag, see here. I do think, however, that seeing every girl and their dog with a tartan skirt and a tartan scarf is getting a little bit overkill. Don't you think? I suppose it's quite an easy trend to follow which is why so many people have jumped on the bandwagon, but I don't think I'll be buying anything else with the pattern this season, unless it's something I really can't live without. What do you guys think? Are you getting sick of it yet?

Well, back to the outfit. I paired my cough-tartan-cough shorts with a simple black vest top and some sheer tights. By the way these tights are from Primark and I wore them for the first time when I took these photos and managed to ladder them halfway through the shoot. Primark tights? What was I thinking? Anyway, I really like wearing shorts or a short dress under a huge coat at the moment. I'm kind of into the androgynous look right now, you guys know that. And of course I wore my all time favourite loafers, I'm still in shock at how little I paid for such beautiful (and comfy!) shoes.

Oh and have you guys all got your Halloween outfits sorted yet? I can't wait to show you mine!

Layering Leather

ZARA shirt, crop top, shoes

TOPSHOP jacket, jeans, necklace

H&M bag

I have been trying to incorporate my leather crop top into my Autumn / Winter wardrobe recently which has proved to be a little tricky, but I think I've finally found the solution. By layering a boyfriend shirt over the crop top it creates an edgy but laid back vibe, whilst still keeping you warm. Pair it with skinny jeans, a fitted leather jacket, and some super chic heels and you're good to go. This is the sort of outfit I wear all the time because it looks effortless, but cool. You know what I mean, the 'I totally didn't put any thought into my outfit, I just accidentally look this good' kinda deal.

Whilst you're all back to work tomorrow, my weekend starts here! So I'm kicking back with a cup of tea and a magazine. What a crazy life I lead.

Unaffordable A/W Boots

Unaffordable A/W Boots

Oh look! A blog post all about winter boots and not a single Jeffrey Campbell Coltrane in sight!

I decided to create another one of these wishlist things because they're fun to make and they don't involve leaving my sofa, win win! I've always been obsessed with boots, which I'm sure you all know by now. If I am going to splash out on some expensive shoes it will be boots over anything else every single time, because I know I'll get so much wear out of them. At the moment (as you can probably tell) I'm loving ankle boots with a small chunky heel. They can practically be any colour, any material, any style. As long as they have a little heel and go up to my ankles, I love them.

There's one pair on the list that are slightly different to the rest, yep you guessed it, the Jeffrey Campbells. Over the knee boots are hot this A/W and I spotted these beauties on the JC Instagram a few days ago. I struggle with boots this tall on the High Street because the 'one size fits all' mantra makes them look like fishermen's waders on me - 'cos I has skinny thighs. So it looks like I'll be giving this particular trend a miss this year.

I've titled these boots 'unaffordable' because to me, at this moment, they are. (Although some are a little more unaffordable than others.) It doesn't stop me lusting after them though and, hey, maybe one day I'll own a pair! (Although possibly not the Chanel ones, I dread to think how much they cost.) The Alexander Wang beauties are actually on The Outnet for about 55% cheaper than their original price, which is a total bargain and yet still so very far out of my reach. Sigh.

I know the High Street have an abundance of beautiful boots this year, and I've seen some absolutely gorgeous ones from Missguided, Topshop, H&M and ASOS. So that's definitely where I'll be heading for my boot fix this year. How about you?

Are you as obsessed with boots as me?

Check Mate

(Trousers, Zara. Jumper, Topshop. Bag, H&M. Boots, eBay. Necklace, New Look. Jacket, River Island)

Hello again! These check trousers haven't made an appearance on my blog yet because I've been a bit scared of them. Is it just me, or do they remind you of chef trousers? Well anyway, if you do like the look of them but don't fancy spending your pennies in Zara then I believe Primark do a similar version for about £12. Personally I love these ones because they fit high on the waist, which makes them perfect for pairing with my cropped fluffy jumper. Normally I resent buying knitwear in Topshop because it's really expensive and H&M usually do exactly the same sort of thing at much more realistic prices, however, I did end up buying this fluffy beauty for fashion week and I've got to say I'm very happy with my purchase.

I've been wearing my hair in a middle parting more and more recently, mainly because I've decided to grow out the shaved side. I am thinking about livening things up a bit and getting some extremely low maintenance bangs cut in, something like Alexa Chung I guess. Let me know what you think.

Lots of love!

C r i s p

(Shirt & bag, Zara. Leather trousers, Topshop. Necklace & shoes, Primark.)

A crisp white shirt is something that every girl needs in their wardrobe. Smarten them up with a blazer, cosy them up with a jumper on top, or keep them casual with jeans, they're versatile and they're classic. I like how mine looks with my leather trousers and giant tartan clutch bag. Statement accessories guys, they're happening.

Talking of 'crisp', how's everyone enjoying the crisp Autumn air recently? My favourite kind of weather is what we've been having recently, when it's cold enough for a coat, but still sunny so you need sunglasses. Perfect. Just one of the many reasons why I love this time of year so much.

Anyway, I'm off now to cook a lasagne and pour myself a glass of wine because it's Friday night and I want to pretend I don't have work all weekend. What are you guys doing?

Much love!

Sarah

It's a Boy / Girl Thing

(Coat, Topshop. Jeans, Topshop. T shirt, H&M. Shoes, Primark. Bag, Whistles. Necklace, Dorothy Perkins)

~Bad quality photos due to it being really dark in the middle of the day. Sorry about that~

Check me out taking outfit photos 'on location'. I decided I was bored of my back garden and needed to venture out of my comfort zone, so I took my camera and my tripod for a little walk down the road. If the quality of the photos was better then I think I'd be happier but hey, it's not bad for my first go.

I found these gorgeous Chloe-esque loafers in Primark the other day, marked at £14, but when I got to the cashier she said 'that will be £6 then please'. Six pounds?? I thought it must be a mistake, but no, it was just my lucky day! I'm really digging the boy meets girl style at the moment. I've always been a jeans rather than skirt kinda gal, and now I'm upping the ante with oversized boyfriend coats with chunky boots. My new loafers are the perfect addition to my wardrobe to accompany this style. Don't you think?

Wishlist | 21st Birthday!

Birthday Wishlist

In case you hadn't realised, I'm one of those people who gets very excited for their Birthday. In six weeks time I will be turning the ripe old age of 21 and I'm jetting off to Barcelona for the weekend to celebrate. Of course there are one or two things I'll be dropping subtle hints for... and by subtle I mean writing a post with pictures and links to the exact things I want and plastering it all over the internet for my friends and family to see. Lolz. But honestly this isn't really a 'birthday list' as such, it's more of an amalgamation of things I might ask for, things I might treat myself to at Duty Free, and a couple of wildly unrealistic designer items thrown in for good measure.

Birthdays are a great time to ask for those items that you've been dying to purchase but just couldn't justify buying for yourself. Especially when it comes to skin care, perfume, and beauty products. Oh, and Mulberry purses, of course.

Do any of you have Birthdays coming up? What are you doing to celebrate?

Outfit | Leather Trousers #2

(Leather trousers & hat & shoes, Topshop. Sparkly vest, Primark. Bag, Whistles. Necklace, Urban Outfitters. Lips, Revlon 'Cherries in the Snow')

Hello! I'm back with my 'how I style leather trousers' series and this time I've dressed them up a bit. This is something I'd wear on a night out, maybe to a few bars or pubs (nowhere too hot, mind.) I'm being extremely predictable and going for my usual black, on black, on black, with a bright lip. I got a lot of 'ooh where is your top from?' comments when I wore this a few nights ago. Friends, I think it was about £6 from Primark. Let's all get one!

I'm wearing my beautiful shiny new heels that I bought from Topshop to wear to London Fashion Week, but ended up chickening out because it rained. They really are comfy though, they've got quite a low chunky heel and a huge platform so it's practically like you're wearing flats. Hooray! I'm also wearing my trusty old bowler hat which is also from Topshop (anybody else think I need to branch out more?) I love wearing my hat on nights out because it makes me look, well, super cool. At the same time people can really get on my nerves with the whole 'hey girl I love your hat, can I wear it har har har har'. No. No you can't.

Oh and how beautiful is my new Whistles clutch bag? I kinda treated myself as an early Birthday present. It's black leather with a crocodile effect and the classic gold 'Whistles' engraving and gold zip. It's a timeless clutch bag that I'm sure to get a lot of use out of, and it's got that gorgeous new leather smell. Lovely! Do you like it?

Review | Maybelline Colour Tattoos

Maybelline Colour Tattoos in Pink Gold, On and On Bronze and Metallic Pomegranate

These damn Colour Tattoos have got me all in a muddle. I've edited this post so many times since I first took the pictures, it's a bit of a joke, but I just keep changing my mind on how I feel about them!

At first I really wasn't blown away. I thought the colours were a bit rubbish, and I tried to apply with my fingers which just wasn't working for me. However, my opinion has changed since then. I started using my eyeshadow brush which I found made it a lot easier to apply and looked a lot neater. The pomegranate one was the colour I was most excited about, and as a base for MAC's 'Cranberry' it really is a fab product. However, I was hoping the colour would be a real pop of deep red that I could wear on it's own should the mood take me. I don't think it's a great colour though, it's a bit dull if you know what I mean. I do, however, quite like the bronze and pink ones on their own as a cream shadow. If I'm in a bit of a rush they're quite nice with just a flick of eyeliner and some mascara.

I've actually been pairing the Pink Gold with MAC's 'All That Glitters' over the top quite often recently which looks so girly and pretty and sparkly. I just love it and think they're a match made in heaven. It's got to be said as well that the staying power for these bad boys is incredible. Once they're on, they really don't budge. I have heard mixed reviews from different people using different colours and I think the general consensus is that they all seem to come with varying levels of quality. It's a shame, but luckily I seem to have bought some of the best of the bunch.

Have any of you tried the Maybelline Colour Tattoos? Which are your favourite shades?
